Tallman Confirmed Probationary Judge

TALLMAN CONFIRMED PROBATIONARY JUDGE
 
Cecelia Tallman took the oath of office to become a probationary district court judge on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. Chief Justice JoAnn B. Jayne administered the oath of office after the Navajo Nation Council voted 22-0 to confirm Tallman’s appointment during the Council fall session.
 
President Jonathan Nez appointed Tallman a district court judge on August 30, 2022. Tallman was interviewed and recommended by the Judicial Conduct Commission in August 2022 as part of the process to becoming a judge.
 
Tallman was born and raised in Tuba City. She graduated from Tuba City High School and from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor of science degree in political science and a minor in history. She has two children and four grandchildren.
 
Tallman has worked for the Navajo Nation Office of the Public Defender as an advocate and for the Judicial Branch of the Navajo Nation as a paralegal, court clerk and probation officer. She has been a member of the Navajo Nation Bar Association in good standing since 2003.
